WWE Smackdown Results 5/9/2008

Smackdown this week hailed from London Ontario Canada. The show starts off with Vickie Guerrero, Edge, and Teddy Long on stage. Vickie tells the audience that tonight their will be a series of matches contested to determine who will face Undertaker at Judgement day in a World Heavyweight Championship match. First there will be qualifying matches to see who will be in the over the top rope battle royal later that night. Then whoever wins the battle royal will be the one to face Undertaker at the PPV.
In the first contest of the night it is Matt Hardy vs. CM Punk. Matt Hardy won the match thru a series of counters and counters to the counters. He eventually trapped Punk in a counter to Punk’s pin. The next match in to qualify for the battle royal is MVP vs. Finley accompanied by Hornswoggle. This was a match to see. It was filled with equal ability by both competitors and humor from Hornswoggle’s distractions. When it all comes down to the it the match was ruled as a draw. Both men pinned each other. When Finley hit the back suplex with a bridge he did not realize that he also had his shoulders on the canvas.
Next on the card is Kelly Kelly vs. Natalya accompanied by Victoria. Natalya clearly dominates this match. I will give Kelly Kelly credit for sticking it out and trying her hardest. But on that night her hardest was not good enough. Natalya locks in her families signature finisher, the sharpshooter, and forces Kelly Kelly to tap out.
Batista vs. John Morrison is next out of the gate. Of course John Morrison is followed by his fellow WWE Tag Team Champion, the Miz. This match is back and forth for the beginning, till Morrison throws Batista shoulder first into the steel steps. Morrison continues to dominate Batista, all the while keeping him on the mat. Batista eventually rises hits a few power moves and then is shut down again by Morrison. Morrison goes to the top rope to try one of his high flying maneuvers. It back fires on him. Batista spears Morrison mid-air. Next Batista hits the Batista Bomb to get the one, two, three.
It is Big Show vs. Tommy Dreamer in the next qualifying match up. This is what in the wrestling business would be called a "squash match". That means there is not chance for one of the opponents to win. It would be like a match between Hornswoggle and the Great Khali, which has happened. Yes, Big Show did win the match. There for qualifying for the battle royal.
Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero to qualify for the battle royal. Kane starts off dominating the match. Chavo then begins to break Kane down by taking away his vertical base. Chavo then begins to work on Kane’s leg. Getting a little help from his bodyguard, Bam Neely, Chavo is able to keep the big man off his feet for most of the match. Kane begins to come back, Chavo continues on the leg bringing Kane back down. Chavo is going to go for the five star frog splash off the top rope. He is caught by Kane who then delivers a devastating chokeslam to Chavo, which gets him the win.
Vladamir Kozlov vs. Phil Atlas. Kozlov won this match, dominating the entire thing.
Now for the mainevent, that everyone had been waiting for, the over the top rope battle royal. The match begins with chaos throughout the ring, of course this is perfectly alright because it is a battle royal. Hardy is the first man eliminated, then Finley, MVP, and then Big Show. Everyone one in the arena is thrilled that they will get to see the Undertaker vs. Batista rivalry continue on. Then the buzz kill arrives. Vickie proclaims that Edge has been cleared to wrestle so the match is still on. Out of no where Edge comes in the ring and spears Batista off the ring apron, to win the match. As Edge is celebrating his ruthless victory, a lighting bolt shoots down from the ceiling lighting the World Heavyweight Championsip displayed in a glass box on fire. Then Undertakers music starts and Edge takes off towards the back. That was the end of the show. Tune into Smackdown next week to see if Taker’s mind games will take a toll on the Rated R Superstar Edge.

In the last two blogs I talked about the most recent news in the WWE and the Raw results. In this blog I will give you the lowdown on ECW. Recently ECW Extremist Tommy Dream helped a young child realize his dreams, by giving him a complete tour of WWE Headquarters. This your child is Christian a 9 year old boy who can be adopted thru the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Tommy Dreamer took Chirstian on a tour, which he described as awesome, thru WWE Headquarter in Stamford Connecticut, where he got to meet such stars as John Cena, Batista, and the Undertaker.
Now on to the results from the May 6th edition of ECW. This was a special edition of ECW being its one hundredth episode. Last Tuesday Colin Delaney won his contract into the WWE, by beating ECW GM Armando Estrada. When Delaney rolled Estrada up and got the one, two, three the arena erupted. The electricity was amazing. Every fan in the arena was on their feet. Tazz joined Delaney in the ring to get his thoughts about receiving a contract. Delaney said, "I did it...this is what makes it all worth it!" For months now Delaney has been trying to earn his contract in the WWE. He has finally accomplished what he has worked so hard to get.
Mike Adamle took a few minutes to address the crowd and the fans at home. He wanted to apologies for leaving his position at the announce table last week. He admits that he made a mistake and is now ready to step it up and be the best commentator that he can be.
In an Extreme Rules match, it was Mike Knox vs. Tommy Dreamer. Once again Knox came out on top beating the legendary extremist for the second week in a row. Among the weapons used in this match were hockey sticks, a Singapore cane, and a boat oar. Needless to say this was an extremely physical contest.
The next match was Matt Striker vs. Kofi Kingston. Kofi picked up the victory over his well educated foe and in doing so continued his undefeated streak. After the match was over "the Gold Standard", Shelton Benjamin, who was sitting at ringside attacked Kofi leaving him laying on face down on the mat.
Kelly Kelly brought back Kelly’s Expose for this special edition of ECW. Before the lovely diva could start her show, Layla interrupted. Layla then challenged Kelly Kelly to a dance competition. These former friends did not do much dancing before they began to brawl. They eventually were broken up by ECW referees.
Another match from Tuesday was ECW Champion Kane and Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero and Bam Neely. After Kane suffering the humiliation of losing in a two-on-one handicap match last week to Chavo and Neely, Kane was out for redemption. He received that redemption when his partner hit the GTS, Go to Sleep, to take the win.

WWE Raw results for 5/5/2008 continued...

Backstage we see Y2J, Chris Jericho speaking with William Regal. Regal asked Jericho if he felt confident in his accusations place upon Shawn Michaels last week. The accusations from Y2J to Shawn Michaels was the Shawn was faking a knee injury from Backlash. Jericho said that he was sure the Shawn was faking. Regal said that he is going to put Y2J in a match against the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and the Miz. With Chris’ partner being Shawn Michaels.
Another Backstage shot shows Trevor Murdoch singing to the make-up lady when former WWE diva and record seven time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus made an appearance along with Ron Simmons. That segment ended with Ron’s classic catch phrase.
Todd Grisham interviews Randy Orton about William Regal turning the lights off on his WWE Championship match with Triple H last week on Raw. Orton goes on about how he will gain the WWE Championship back at Judgment Day in two weeks.
Next match up on the card is Paul Burchill and his sister Katie Lea vs. John Cutler in a two on one handicap match. Before this match begins the former NFL announcer turned WWE Commentator, Mike Adamle comes down to take Jim Ross’ place at the announce table for this match. There has been controversy surround Adamle lately. The fans are taunting him and they do not like him because they think he adds nothing to the show and should be fired. The match begins. And before you know it Katie Lea is getting the pin on Cutler for the win.
The next match is the Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison and The Miz. The superstars make their entrances. When Shawn Michaels arrives the crowd boos. This is not unusual of course in Toronto because if you may recall Shawn Michaels was involved in the 1997 Survivor Series Screwjob with Bret Hart. Fans from Toronto and all of Canada have still not forgiven Shawn after over a decade has pasted. The match begins with Y2J and the Miz. Jericho is continually being isolated from his corner, I guess that is what make the Miz and Morrison Tag Team Champs. HBK, Shawn Michaels never gets tagged into the match up, but eventually gets the win for his team. After Morrison hit HBK with a cheapshot while he was standing on the apron, HBK enters the ring and hits Morrison with some Sweet Chin Music. All the while Y2J has the Miz in the Walls of Jericho. Keep in mind that Jericho and Morrison were the legal men. Then Jericho hits Morrison with the Lionsault and rolls him up for the win.
Former WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk. The match starts both men put on a good show of their strengths and skill. The match goes back and forth for a while. The fans really got into this one. Punk throws some of his lethal kicks and Orton throws some of his ground and pound moves. All of a sudden William Regal walks out from the gorilla and shuts the lights off. The match was announced as over by the GM. The crowd gave a rowdy reaction to this action.
JBL vs. DH Smith up next. JBL delivers a beat down on Smith leaving him helpless after delivering his finisher. JBL then continues to beat the heck out of Smith and will not stop at the refs request.
Finally the Main Event of the evening rolls around. The match putting Triple H and Mr. Kennedy vs. the ECW Roster. The match starts, Kennedy begins getting isolated from his partner. The ECW crew did a great job at working as a team for a while. Kennedy never gets the tag, but some how Triple H ends up in the ring as well as the ECW superstars. It is an all out brawl. You have ECW superstars beating on Triple H and Kennedy and ECW superstars beating on other ECW superstars. It ends in Chavo Guerrero hitting the frog splash on Kennedy to take the pin. Triple H then continues to clear the ring of the ECW superstars, when the lights again go out. When the go back on Randy Orton is behind Triple H. He turns him around and give him the RKO. When the show goes off the air the last sight seen is Randy Orton standing tall over the laid out WWE Champion Triple H.

WWE News and Raw results for 5/5/2008

Welcome to my first WWE blog. This blog will discuss the different topics occurring within the WWE and with the WWE superstars. This blog will also tell of the results from Monday Night Raw, ECW, and Friday Night Smackdown.
First of all let me start out by informing you of the latest news in the WWE. Colin Delaney finally won his contract for the WWE. Colin has been trying to earn a contract with the WWE for many weeks now and has finally done so by beating ECW General Manager Armando Estrada. The next big topic is the stripping of the World Heavyweight Championship. On the last edition of Friday Night Smackdown, GM Vickie Guerrero stripped the Undertaker of the most precious prize in the industry, the World Heavyweight Title. There has been a buzz in the wrestling world as to what will happen to the title next. Is Vickie going to give her boyfriend Edge the title or will Edge and Vickie get the rath of the Undertaker.
On to this weeks Monday Night Raw results. The show started out with a clip of GM William Regal showing what happened last week when his power was questioned and disrespected by Mr. Kennedy. The next shot brings us into the Air Canada Center, where we see Vince McMahon standing on the stage. Vince states that he finds Regal’s new found power inspiring and that he fully supports him in using it. Then Lillian Garcia introduces Raw GM William Regal. Regal gets on the mic telling the fans that they have to respect a man such as he with such power. Then he demonstrates his power by turning the arena lights off and back on. Regal then goes on the say that he will not tolerate anymore disrespect from anyone. Then Mr. Kennedy’s music hits. Kennedy come to the ring and challenges Regal to a match that night to show his power and earn respect. Regal says he will show his power and is putting Kennedy in a handicap match. It would be Mr. Kennedy vs. the entire ECW roster, which is a whole 14 people.
Next the new WWE Champion, Triple H heads to the ring, getting a rockstar reaction when his music hit. Triple H says that he is not out there to disrespect Mr. Regal, but to congratulate him on his new position of power. The conversation quickly turns a 180. Regal eventually put Triple H in the handicap match with Mr. Kennedy. Now it would be Mr. Kennedy and Triple H vs. the entire ECW locker room (excluding the divas of course) in a tag team handicap match.
In the first match of the night we have a Divas Lumberjack Match between Mickie James the current WWE Woman’s Champion and Beth Phoenix, for the Women’s title. The match progresses, with the heel divas giving Mickie a beating whenever she was thrown out of the ring. Don’t think that those were the only beatings that were given out. The babyface divas did their share on Beth Phoenix when the time came. Melina attempting to hit Mickie in the face with the title, but missing and hitting Beth instead ended the match. Mickie James won and was still the WWE Women’s Champion.
