WWE Raw results for 5/5/2008 continued...

Backstage we see Y2J, Chris Jericho speaking with William Regal. Regal asked Jericho if he felt confident in his accusations place upon Shawn Michaels last week. The accusations from Y2J to Shawn Michaels was the Shawn was faking a knee injury from Backlash. Jericho said that he was sure the Shawn was faking. Regal said that he is going to put Y2J in a match against the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Morrison and the Miz. With Chris’ partner being Shawn Michaels.
Another Backstage shot shows Trevor Murdoch singing to the make-up lady when former WWE diva and record seven time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus made an appearance along with Ron Simmons. That segment ended with Ron’s classic catch phrase.
Todd Grisham interviews Randy Orton about William Regal turning the lights off on his WWE Championship match with Triple H last week on Raw. Orton goes on about how he will gain the WWE Championship back at Judgment Day in two weeks.
Next match up on the card is Paul Burchill and his sister Katie Lea vs. John Cutler in a two on one handicap match. Before this match begins the former NFL announcer turned WWE Commentator, Mike Adamle comes down to take Jim Ross’ place at the announce table for this match. There has been controversy surround Adamle lately. The fans are taunting him and they do not like him because they think he adds nothing to the show and should be fired. The match begins. And before you know it Katie Lea is getting the pin on Cutler for the win.
The next match is the Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison and The Miz. The superstars make their entrances. When Shawn Michaels arrives the crowd boos. This is not unusual of course in Toronto because if you may recall Shawn Michaels was involved in the 1997 Survivor Series Screwjob with Bret Hart. Fans from Toronto and all of Canada have still not forgiven Shawn after over a decade has pasted. The match begins with Y2J and the Miz. Jericho is continually being isolated from his corner, I guess that is what make the Miz and Morrison Tag Team Champs. HBK, Shawn Michaels never gets tagged into the match up, but eventually gets the win for his team. After Morrison hit HBK with a cheapshot while he was standing on the apron, HBK enters the ring and hits Morrison with some Sweet Chin Music. All the while Y2J has the Miz in the Walls of Jericho. Keep in mind that Jericho and Morrison were the legal men. Then Jericho hits Morrison with the Lionsault and rolls him up for the win.
Former WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk. The match starts both men put on a good show of their strengths and skill. The match goes back and forth for a while. The fans really got into this one. Punk throws some of his lethal kicks and Orton throws some of his ground and pound moves. All of a sudden William Regal walks out from the gorilla and shuts the lights off. The match was announced as over by the GM. The crowd gave a rowdy reaction to this action.
JBL vs. DH Smith up next. JBL delivers a beat down on Smith leaving him helpless after delivering his finisher. JBL then continues to beat the heck out of Smith and will not stop at the refs request.
Finally the Main Event of the evening rolls around. The match putting Triple H and Mr. Kennedy vs. the ECW Roster. The match starts, Kennedy begins getting isolated from his partner. The ECW crew did a great job at working as a team for a while. Kennedy never gets the tag, but some how Triple H ends up in the ring as well as the ECW superstars. It is an all out brawl. You have ECW superstars beating on Triple H and Kennedy and ECW superstars beating on other ECW superstars. It ends in Chavo Guerrero hitting the frog splash on Kennedy to take the pin. Triple H then continues to clear the ring of the ECW superstars, when the lights again go out. When the go back on Randy Orton is behind Triple H. He turns him around and give him the RKO. When the show goes off the air the last sight seen is Randy Orton standing tall over the laid out WWE Champion Triple H.
